Frequently Asked Questions
Are you accepting new patients?
We always welcome new patents for routine cleanings, consultations, extensive dental work or whatever your dental needs may be. Please come in at least 20 minutes or earlier as we need to enter your personal and health history into our database. Please do not forget to bring your drivers license, dental insurance card (if any). We will take X-rays as needed and Dr. Kaja will evaluate and discuss your treatment options. If time permits, we may be able to initiate your treatment on the same day for your convenience.
Do you accept children?
We love taking care of children. Dr. Kaja has extensive experience in treating children. She enjoys treating children of all ages. We allow parents to be present in the operating room during the treatment.
Do you accept my insurance and is my visit covered?
We accept all major insurances and children on Medicaid (Medical card) below the age of 18. We will submit the claim to your insurance company for your convenience. If you have any questions regarding your insurance coverage, please call us @ (217) 321-4468 before you schedule an appointment. We will be glad to call your insurance company to get you the answers.
Can I have a late evening appointment or weekend appointment due to my work schedule?
Dr. Kaja tries her best to accommodate her patient’s needs. We will schedule after hour, weekend and emergency appointments as needed. However, we will evaluate the dental emergency and will try our best to be there for our patients depending on the need.
How do I cancel my appointment?
Please call us as soon as possible if you cannot make it to your appointment. That will give us an opportunity to help other patients who are on the “waiting list” to see the dentist. After three cancellations with no notice or short notice, we will have to place a patient on waiting list.
How often do I need to have my teeth checked?
We recommend evaluation and cleaning at least twice a year. If you have high decay rate or severe gum disease we may even recommend evaluations every 3 months.
Most of the time, start up cavities or gum disease/periodontal disease will not cause any pain or discomfort. It is much easier and cheaper to treat your dental problems in the initial stages than wait until disease progresses. Once your tooth starts to hurt, majority of the time your options are either a root canal treatment or extraction of the tooth.
I have trouble sleeping. Will you be able to make me an oral appliance?
Sleep is a complex phenomenon. Even though your dentist can treat your sleep problems and snoring with oral appliance, oral appliance alone may not treat all types of sleep disorders.
It is important that we work together with your primary care physician and sleep specialist to comprehensively treat your sleep problems. Your sleep physician needs to formally diagnose and prescribe an oral appliance so that your dentist can fabricate one to suit your needs.
